2002 AA29 Recovery
The recovery position of 2002 AA29 is depicted by the green circle. It was detected by the Spacewatch 1.8 meter telescope in the first recovery frame, just a few arc minutes from the nominal prediction. Two amateur observatories reported plans to attempt the recovery of 2002 AA29. Steve Brewster, Stony Ridge Observatory and James McGaha, Grasslands Observatory. Snowfall at Stony Ridge Observatory made it inaccessible thus no observations were attempted from there. James McGaha successfully imaged the recovery field on 3 January 2003. However, since the asteroid was a full magnitude fainter than predicted, it was not visible using the short exposures through his 0.6 meter telescope. |
