The Camarillo Observatory "Helin" Telescope

This is the instrument that one will find listed in the scientific literature as the "0.30-m f/6.7 Helin Telescope + CCD".  It is named in honor of Dr. Eleanor Helin, head of NASA's Near-Earth Asteroid Tracking program, who provided this wonderful resource to Camarillo Observatory.  After nearly a decade of continuous service, the ST-6 was retired on 16 September 2002.  The observatory is now equipped with a ST-10XME, thanks again, to the generosity of Dr. Helin!

Telescope:  0.30 meter (12-inch) Meade LX200 Schmidt-Cassegrain mounted on Super Wedge.

Camera:  Santa Barbara Instrument Group model ST-10XME, binned 3x3.

Focal Reducer:  Celestron f6.3 focal reducer (provides a 25.1' by 16.9' field of view).

Focuser:  JMI Next Generation Focuser (remote control).

Balance Systems:  Meade rail counterweights  (top), Losmandy dovetail system (bottom).

Dew Control Systems:  Tuthill Heated No Du Cap, Custom defogging system.
